Bolton CAMRA – Social to Rivington Brewing Company – Saturday 28th March 2020

We shall meet at the Crown Hotel in Horwich at 12.00 for a beer before our walk to Rivington Brewery, Home Farm, Horrobin Lane, Anderton, PR6 9HE.

Food is available if you would like to eat here before we set off for the walk to the brewery.

For those who don’t want to walk we can arrange a taxi/mini bus from the Crown to the brewery and share the cost. We would expect to leave the Crown around 1.00pm. It would be useful if we knew how many people would like to share a taxi.

Bolton CAMRA – Stockport trip – Saturday 18th April 2020

We
will meet at Bolton Station at 12.00 to catch the 12.11 train
directly to Stockport arriving at 12.51. The return fare is £6.70.
There are return trains to Bolton are 17.12, 17.36, 18.05 and 18.12

Bolton CAMRA – Weekday Social – Bromley Cross – Friday 20th March 2020

The weekday social for March is a visit to Bromley Cross. We plan to meet at the Railway on Chapeltown Road at 1.30.

There is a
train from Bolton station at 13.00 which arrives in Bromley Cross at
13.09. There is also the bus option with the 533 and 541 buses
running from Bolton to Bromley Cross on an hourly service. The 533 is
a hourly service with a bus leaving the Interchange at 12.50. The 541
is a half hourly service with buses leaving at 12.43 and 13.13.
Journey for both services is approximately 30 minutes.

Bolton CAMRA Pub of the Year 2020

We will be voting for Bolton CAMRA Pub of the Year, Club of the Year and Cider Pub of the Year at the next meeting on Thursday 5th March 8pm at The Millstone in Bolton town centre. Voting can only be done in person at the meeting, with a valid CAMRA membership card.

The winner is decided from a combination of votes at the meeting, average beer score through the year and scores from judges who have visited all pubs and scored using CAMRA guidelines.

Beer Quality Accreditation Scheme – 2019-20

Trafford & Hulme branch is one of several CAMRA branches participating a a trial of a Beer Quality Accreditation Scheme. Recognizing pubs consistently selling well-kept real ales is an important aspect of CAMRA’s campaigning to improve beer quality at the point of dispense and this new accreditation scheme is a means of recognizing quality. Pubs that gain accreditation can publicise the fact, including the display of the attached window sticker. The award is made based on scores entered into the National Beer Scoring Scheme by CAMRA members. CAMRA memberes are encouraged to score all real ale, cider and perry that they drink. The following pubs and clubs within the branch have currentlt achieved the requied standard and been awarded this accreditation. The scores will be reviewed on an regular basis, and additional pubs who attain the required standard will be added to the list.

Bolton CAMRA – Weekday Social – Little Lever – Tuesday 18th February, 2020

The February weekday social is to visit some of the pubs in Little Lever.

We will meet at One For The Road, Stalls F14 to F15 Ashburner Street Lifestyle Hall, BL1 1TJ, at 1.30pm to have a beer before we walk to the bus station to get the 524 Diamond bus to Bury from stand J. These buses run every 10 minutes and will take approximately 15 minutes to get to Little Lever.

Southport CAMRA – Chorley Social – February 15th

A few of the Bolton CAMRA branch members will be joining the Southport CAMRA branch in Chorley for their Social on February 15th.
